1. Remember who you are! Your dress should be a reflection of your personality and you should feel comfortable in it. If you are a girly girl who loves to be a princess, then go with the frilly gown. If you are a tom boy at heart, don’t be afraid to wear something that shows off your wild side, slits and all! 2. Don’t spend alot of money!! Yes, your prom dress is uber important…but there is a good chance that you may not wear it again. Unless you’ve hit the lotto big, get something that is affordable for you and wear it with pride!

3. Keep your dress after Prom! You can lend your gown to a friend and make their Prom day just as special. If you chose a dress that is not a frilly ballgown, then chances are really good that you can wear it to another formal event! Although that ballgown can certainly be appropriate for some formals as well.

4. Choose a dress that flatters your figure! Know your curves and how you want to show them. Take into consideration the curves that you don’t want to accentuate and choose a dress that helps to hide them. Choose a full skirted dress to hide your hips. An empire gown will help hide that tummy, and a scoop or halter top will help with hiding a large bust.
